Dolphins sign center J.D. Walton

The Miami Dolphins signed center J.D. Walton on Thursday, the team announced.

Walton will add much-needed depth to Miami's thin offensive line. He will back up Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey, but Walton also has starting experience. He started all 16 games for the New York Giants last season and has 52 career starts.

“I would like to welcome J.D. to the Miami Dolphins,” Dolphins General Manager Dennis Hickey said in a statement. “He is a young, but experienced player who will be a positive addition to our offensive line.”

Walton was one of three free agents to visit Miami on Thursday. Wide receiver Michael Crabtree and quarterback Tarvaris Jackson also met with the Dolphins.
