DAVIE, Fla. -- Perhaps no one in the Miami Dolphins' locker room felt worse for Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson than former teammate Greg Jennings. Green Bay's Pro Bowl receiver suffered a season-ending knee injury in last weekend's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Nelson and Jennings spent five seasons together (2008-2012) in Green Bay as top weapons for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The pair won a Super Bowl together following the 2010 season.
“It’s a tough situation,” Jennings said. “It’s one of those deals where it’s unexpected and very unfortunate, especially for a guy like Jordy that you know works hard all offseason and during the season. He works and has earned everything he’s gotten. So you root for a guy like that. ... My prayers definitely go out to him and his family. So I hope for him to a speedy recovery.”
Nelson was coming off a career year where he caught 98 receptions for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns. It was a noncontact injury that ended Nelson’s season.
The Packers are Super Bowl contenders, but losing Nelson hurts their chances.
