MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins still have questions on their roster, but quarterback definitely isn’t one of them.

If the preseason is any indication, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is ready to have a big year. He is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL during the exhibition season. Tannehill is completing 80.4 percent of his passes for 303 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Tannehill has looked the part of a franchise quarterback this summer just months after signing a $96 million contract extension. That only bodes well for the Dolphins’ offense heading into the regular season.

“Well, it’s a good start,” Tannehill said of his three preseason games. “I think guys are getting open and making plays for me down the field and I’m making good decisions getting the ball out in the right spot. Obviously there are plays that I don’t do perfectly and I want to complete, but I feel like we’re trending in the right direction right now and we have to build on what we’ve done in this preseason.”

In limited snaps, Tannehill has thrown a touchdown in each of his three preseason games. On Saturday he threw a 2-yard touchdown slant to Miami receiver Rishard Matthews in a 13-9 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Tannehill also connected on an impressive 46-yard pass to receiver Jarvis Landry, who broke at least three tackles on the run after the catch.

Tannehill’s accuracy has been impressive. He has just eight incompletions in 41 attempts. Tannehill’s ball placement also has improved to allow his receivers to run in stride, which is important for Miami’s offense.

Overall there is a lot to like about Tannehill’s preseason performance, which has justifiably created high expectations for the fourth-year quarterback entering the regular season.
