DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake had one of the most dominating performances of his career last week against the Tennessee Titans. Wake recorded four sacks on Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota and also drew two holding penalties.
On Wednesday, the NFL named Wake AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. This is the third time Wake has won the honor.
Wake had a slow start to the season after dealing with a hamstring injury. He had zero sacks in the first four games but emerged with four sacks last weekend.
Here are other Dolphins notes from Wednesday's practice:
The team was thin at cornerback during the first practice of the week. Starter Brice McCain (knee) sat out with a knee injury and backup Zack Bowman wasn't seen during the media portion of practice. McCain injured his knee last weekend against Tennessee. Jamar Taylor will start if McCain can't play Sunday against Houston.
Rookie running back Jay Ajayi (ribs) returned to practice for the first time since being put on the physically unable to perform list before the regular season. Ajayi is not eligible to play until Week 8.
Wednesday's practice was in full pads, which usually is the most physical practice of the week.
