Analyzing Todd McShay's mock draft 2.0 from a Dolphins perspective

After Sunday’s Super Bowl 50 between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos, the games are over for the season and every team will focus on next season.

But it’s never too soon to project April’s NFL draft. ESPN Insider Todd McShay presented his second mock draft, and there were some interesting picks.

Let’s take a look at McShay’s projection for the Miami Dolphins with the No. 8 overall pick:

McShay’s 2.0 pick: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida

McShay’s 1.0 pick: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame

Analysis: McShay altered his pick for Miami since his last mock draft. Both are terrific prospects, but Hargreaves actually fills a more immediate need at cornerback. The Dolphins desperately need a starter opposite Pro Bowl corner Brent Grimes. Hargreaves and Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey are the best corners in the draft and McShay already has Ramsey off the board by the time Miami picks. The projection of Hargreaves to Miami makes a lot of sense. But there are some very intriguing players left on the board at No. 8, according to McShay’s mock draft. UCLA linebacker Myles Jack, Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawson and Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch are among the players that may make Miami think twice.
