The Miami Dolphins have a lot of work to do to create cap space this offseason. The roster is overpaid and underachieved last year, producing just six wins and leading to a change at head coach and general manager.
However, there are several Dolphins who are major bargains this upcoming season. Let’s continue our series this week with a key member of special teams.
No. 4: P Matt Darr
2015 stats: 92 punts, 47.6 yard average
2016 salary: $525,000
Analysis: Darr surprised nearly everyone out of training camp by beating out former Pro Bowl punter Brandon Fields as an undrafted rookie. Not only that, Darr went on to have a solid first season in Miami. He averaged 47.6 yards per punt and had 30 punts land inside the 20. The Dolphins' offense was one of the worst in the NFL on third down and, as a result, Darr got a lot of work. He was one of Miami's most consistent players through all 16 games and has a chance to be even better in his second NFL season.
