Dolphins' potential free-agent target: G Kelechi Osemele

The Miami Dolphins are in the process of slashing salaries in order to create cap room. In turn, they will use the cap room on free agents to upgrade their roster.

Who are some of these players that Miami could target next month? ESPN.com's Dolphins page takes a look this week at several players who are good fits.

On Friday, we take a look at one of the top offensive lineman on the market.

Free agent: G Kelechi Osemele

2015 team: Baltimore Ravens

2015 stats: 14 starts

Why he's a fit for Dolphins: What quality offensive lineman isn't a good fit for the Dolphins? Osemele is the top guard on the market and arguably the best offensive lineman available. Miami allowed another 45 sacks on quarterback Ryan Tannehill last season, and it's time to stop the turnstile-like pass protection. Osemele won't come cheap. He completed his rookie contract and is due for a solid payday. But guards Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner proved they are not the long-term solutions. Also, 2015 draft pick Jamil Douglas was inconsistent his rookie year and still has plenty of room to grow. The Dolphins tried and failed to fill the guard position with multiple recent draft picks. It may be time to try free agency.
