Will Dolphins safety Walt Aikens make the 53-man roster?

The Miami Dolphins made a lot of personnel changes following last year's 6-10 season and the hire of new head coach Adam Gase. Therefore, every player has a clean slate and must prove themselves this summer in training camp.

ESPN.com’s Dolphins page takes a look at several players on the roster bubble. First is a third-year safety.

Bubble player: S Walt Aikens

2015 stats: 29 tackles

Analysis: The Dolphins selected Aikens in the fourth round in 2014 and are still waiting for him to come around. He has good size and athleticism for the position but has yet to be able to put it all together. Aikens was inconsistent in spurts when he did get a chance to play in the base defense. As a result, the Dolphins signed veteran safety Isa Abdul-Quddus in free agency to start opposite Pro Bowler Reshad Jones. Perhaps the best thing Aikens has in his favor is he’s a special-teams contributor the past two seasons. That may give him the inside track to one of the final roster spots.
