Will Dolphins TE Thomas Duarte make the 53-man roster?

The Miami Dolphins made a lot of personnel changes following last year’s 6-10 season and the hire of new coach Adam Gase. Therefore, every player has a clean slate and must prove themselves this summer in training camp.

This week ESPN.com’s Dolphins page takes a look at several players on the roster bubble. Next is the team’s seventh-round pick.

Bubble player: TE Thomas Duarte

2015 stats: 53 receptions, 872 yards, 10 touchdowns (at UCLA)

Analysis: Most seventh-round picks around the NFL face long odds to make the team, but Duarte finds himself in a good situation with the Dolphins. For starters, the Dolphins need pass-catching tight ends in Gase’s offensive scheme. Duarte showed good ball skills at UCLA and is a natural fit; he averaged 16.5 yards per reception last season. The bigger question is whether Duarte can handle the rigors and increased physicality of the NFL. The Dolphins asked Duarte to bulk up, and he’s now up to 245 pounds. Starting tight end Jordan Cameron and backup Dion Sims are locks to make the 53-man roster. The third tight-end spot will come down to Duarte and backup Jake Stoneburner.

Chances of making team: 55 percent
