I was asked an interesting question on the radio in South Florida Tuesday: Who is the most improved player this year for the Miami Dolphins?
It’s an interesting topic that requires some thought. The Dolphins have several good candidates to choose from.
I shared my opinion on the air, but now it’s your turn. Vote on the most improved Dolphins player this season using our SportsNation poll.
Is it tight end Charles Clay? Miami used Clay as a fullback and backup tight end behind Dustin Keller in training camp. But Keller’s preseason knee injury opened the door for Clay to earn a starting role. Now, Clay is second on the team with 60 receptions and leads Miami with seven touchdowns.
What about Olivier Vernon? The Dolphins’ defensive end leads the team with 11.5 sacks in his first full year as a starter. Miami selected Dion Jordan as the No. 3 overall pick this year, but Vernon’s solid play has kept Jordan on the bench.
Miami cornerback Nolan Carroll also deserves consideration. Carroll has stepped up his play during the second half of the season and has filled in well for starter Dimitri Patterson, who was put on injured reserve Tuesday with a groin injury.
Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas also is coming off his biggest performance of the season. He produced his first 100-yard game in two seasons in a key win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
