Vikings agree to one-year deal with Matt Asiata

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings have a new deal with running back Matt Asiata.

According to a league source, Asiata has a one year deal with the Vikings, and will sign it at the start of the new league year on Tuesday. The deal will include some guaranteed money, as well as some incentives he can earn if he produces like he did last season.

Asiata led the Vikings with 570 yards rushing and nine touchdowns on 164 carries last season, as he stepped into the largest role of his career during Adrian Peterson's absence. He also caught 44 passes for 312 yards, and wound up as the Vikings' leader in yards from the line of scrimmage.

He earned $570,000 on his restricted free agent tender last year, but should have a chance for a decent raise if he plays a significant role in the Vikings' offense again in 2015.
