Vikings claim Julian Posey off waivers

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday afternoon they'd claimed cornerback Julian Posey off waivers from the Cleveland Browns, waiving cornerback Kip Edwards to make room for him.

Posey played five games for the Browns last season, recording six tackles and one sack after Cleveland signed him to its practice squad last September. The 5-foot-11 cornerback had been with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, where Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was the linebackers coach (and former Mike Zimmer assistant Kevin Coyle is the defensive coordinator).

Edwards spent the final five weeks of the 2013 season with the Vikings after the team signed him to its practice squad last November. He didn't appear in a game, though, and had signed a reserve/future contract with the Vikings after the season.
