EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen missed practice on Thursday because of an illness, but coach Mike Zimmer said Griffen's status for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams is not in doubt.
Griffen will try to practice on Friday, Zimmer said, but even if he can't, he should be ready to play in the game. The Vikings could be missing a pair of linebackers for their season opener. Brandon Watts will miss the game with a knee injury, Zimmer said, while Michael Mauti appears doubtful because of a foot injury.
Fullback Zach Line's status for Sunday is still unclear. Zimmer said Line, who missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, was able to do some individual work on Thursday, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be ready for Sunday's game.
