Report: Nick Swisher rehab assignment update

Cleveland Indians first baseman Nick Swisher went 0-for-3 with a flyout and two strikeouts in Sunday’s 2-0 win for Triple-A Akron. Swisher is scheduled to play for Akron on Monday as well. After his rehab assignment the Indians will re-evaluate his progress has he recovers from his left knee injury.

Zack Meisel from Cleveland.com addresses Swisher’s rehab assignment, Carlos Carrasco’s pitching performance in Saturday’s 10-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox and Nick Hagadone’s surgey.

“The Indians want to see Swisher log nine, full innings for back-to-back days before they return him to the active roster. … Manager Terry Francona, however, didn't put much stock into the idea that Carrasco was tipping his pitches. … Francona described Nick Hagadone's elbow surgery as ‘the lesser of two evils.’ Hagadone underwent an operation this week to repair a fracture in his elbow. He is expected to miss six to nine months. Hagadone had Tommy John surgery in 2008.”
