The Seattle Mariners are talking to the San Diego Padres in an effort to add a right-hander to their injury-plagued bullpen.
Bob Dutton of the News Tribune reports the Mariners have asked about Nick Vincent, Kevin Quackenbush and Jon Edwards. The 29-year-old Vincent has the most big league experience of the trio and could be the more likely trade target since he is out of minor league options, suggests Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors.
Seattle’s bullpen is currently dealing with injuries to Charlie Furbush, Evan Scribner and Ryan Cook.
Dutton suggests any deal for a right-hander would push three of Seattle’s in-house candidates — Donn Roach, Blake Parker and Mayckol Guaipe — onto the Triple-A Tacoma roster.
