The Astros have made an offer to the 37-year-old to pitch for their Triple-A affiliate this season, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Although Rodriguez would surely prefer to pitch at the major league level, he's "mulling" the offer over.
A former mainstay in the Astros rotation, Rodriguez signed with the team on a minor league deal this offseason and posted a 3.95 ERA in six spring outings. The veteran could serve as valuable depth for Houston, whether it be in the rotation or bullpen.
Rodriguez had a 4.90 ERA in 17 games (15 starts) with the Texas Rangers last year.
