Report: Rudež surprised by trade to Minnesota

The Indiana Pacers traded second-year guard Damjan Rudez to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday in exchange for Chase Budinger.

This was the first time Rudez has been involved in a trade, despite his many years of experience playing professionally overseas. The deal came as a surprise to Rudez, who figured to see an increased role in Indiana's new up-tempo offense, according to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star:

"Through his years as a professional, Rudez had never been traded – until Saturday. 'It's just been a hectic day,' Rudez told The Star ... . 'This is something that comes with the job, even though it was unexpected I was fully aware that it's a business move.' ... 'There are no trades in Europe. Teams don't really trade players like that. I mean, sure it happens but not in the way it happens in the NBA, out of the blue,' Rudez said on Saturday night."
