Center Myles Turner was selected with the 11th pick in the 2015 NBA draft, while guard Joseph Young was chosen in the second round (43rd). Indiana Pacers team president Larry Bird expects both players to get minutes during their first year in the NBA. From Dana Hunsinger Benbow of The Indianapolis Star:
- "These guys won't be sitting the bench. '(I) expect great things out of them this year,' Bird said. 'Usually, you bring in rookies and you say nice things about them then they don't play for a couple years. But I expect both of these guys to play, play well. They are very talented.' Turner is a different kind of big man, who the team hopes will be spotting up from 3-point range and protecting the rim. ... Bird said (after the draft that) he felt Young 'has a good chance' to make the Pacers' 2015-16 roster, especially considering the team's lack of point guard depth."
Turner is the better of the two players and from the way he played during the 2015 Orlando Summer League, there is a chance he will make the 2015-16 NBA All-Rookie team.
