The Denver Nuggets have less than a week to set the regular season opening night roster. Currently the 15th roster spot comes down to a competition between guards Erick Green and Nick Johnson. From Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post:
- "Green is trying to make the team on an unguaranteed contract, which really isn’t an issue unless the team already has a full allotment of players on guaranteed deals. And the Nuggets do. So the organization would have to, say, trade a player or make another move in order to open up the necessary space to keep Green on the roster. All Green can do is play. He knows that. He says he feels good about proving to the Nuggets he’s worth keeping. 'For sure,' Green said. 'I know at the end of the day it isn’t my decision. All I can do is continue to work hard and be a good teammate on and off the court.'"
Green has played in four games during the preseason and is averaging 6.3 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Green does have $100,000 worth of salary protection for 2015-16, so he won't go away empty-handed should the Nuggets waive him.
