The Phoenix Suns will be without backup point guard Ronnie Price through at least the final two preseason games due to an illness. With Price out, head coach Jeff Hornacek will give those minutes to Sonny Weems, Archie Goodwin and Devin Booker. From Craig Grialou of ArizonaSports.com:
- "All the Suns are saying is that Price is dealing with an unspecified illness. The nature of which, however, would appear to be somewhat serious to keep the 10-year veteran away from the team since Oct. 13. Without Price, the Suns have experimented with both Sonny Weems and Archie Goodwin at point guard. It was Weems who had the ball mainly in his hand against Denver last week."
While Price will get his minutes back once he returns, this time without him gives Hornacek a chance to find out if Weems or Goodwin can handle the position. The team has a bunch of shooting guards, so giving them some time at point guard could help the log-jam.
The Suns currently have a full 15-man roster and likely won't make a move to bring in another point guard.
