The preseason is used to help set the playing rotations for the regular season and that is the case for Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek. After Tuesday's game, Sonny Weems is clearly one of the main players coming off the bench. From Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com:
- "This might have been the most telling takeaway of this game. Archie Goodwin and Devin Booker didn’t enter until three minutes remained in the Phoenix blowout, while Sonny Weems played 27 minutes, recording 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including two threes. This comes after Weems played backup point guard to record eight assists in the Suns’ last outing."
Weems is versatile as he can play PG, SG and SF, which gives Hornacek the option to use him all over the floor. For that reason, Weems will play a key role this season.
