Tebow headlines academic All-America team

Quarterback Tim Tebow of No. 1-ranked Florida headlines the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® University Division Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

TebowThe winner of the Academic All-America® of the Year for the second year in a row, Tebow is the first scholar-athlete to be named as the Academic All-America® of the Year for University Division Football in two consecutive years.

Penn State and Texas are the only schools with multiple players on the first team. Linebacker Josh Hull is one of three Nittany Lions on the first team. A pair of Nittany Lion offensive linemen, Andrew Pitz and Stefen Wisniewski join PSU linebacker Josh Hull on the first team. Offensive lineman Adam Ulatowski and defensive lineman Sam Acho represent the Longhorns.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
