Stephen Garcia banged up

South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia landed hard on his left shoulder Saturday in the 29-7 win over Clemson and was in a sling Monday.

The Gamecocks don't have a normal practice on Monday, but when they return to the practice field Tuesday, Garcia will be limited. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier fully expects Garcia to play in the SEC championship game, but doesn't want to rush him back to practice too quickly this week. Garcia also injured the thumb on his throwing hand when he hit it against a helmet in the Clemson game.

Garcia is no stranger to playing with injuries. In fact, he's as tough as they come. He played through bruised ribs last season in the win over Ole Miss.

Plus, Garcia gets a second shot at Auburn after not getting a chance to finish the game earlier this season. He was pulled in the fourth quarter by Spurrier after his second fumble, and true freshman Connor Shaw finished the game.
