Nevada: Did you know?

Time for a little Nevada: Did you Know? as the Wolf Pack head into the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Boston College on Sunday night in San Francisco. Thanks to ESPN Stats & Information for the nuggets.

  • Nevada is 9-0 this season when scoring first and 8-0 when leading after the first quarter. In fact, Nevada has won 15 games in a row when scoring first and 13 straight when it holds the lead after the first quarter.

  • Penn State coach Joe Paterno and Nevada coach Chris Ault are the only active FBS coaches in the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach. Steve Spurrier is in the Hall of Fame a player.

  • This is a school-record sixth straight bowl game for Nevada. The Wolf Pack have gone 1-4 in their last five bowls and have lost four straight. Their only win over that stretch was the 2005 Hawaii Bowl, a 49-48 overtime victory over UCF.

  • Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick has 59 career rushing touchdowns. With one more, he’ll pass Nebraska’s Eric Crouch for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. With two more total touchdowns, Kaepernick would tie Marshall Faulk (62) for the most touchdowns scored in WAC history (Kaepernick also has a TD receiving).

Most Career Rush Yards by a Quarterback

Pat White, West Virginia 4,480

Brad Smith, Missouri 4,289

Colin Kaepernick, Nevada 4,090

  • On the season, Nevada has 75 offensive touchdowns and 554 total points, both school records.

  • Nevada sold a bowl-record 15,000 tickets to the game, and expects in the neighborhood of 25,000 to attend. Truly remarkable when you consider its home attendance averaged 19,567 this season. Ault said he has received e-mails from Nevada fans around the country who are coming to the game with their families, saying the notes were enough to bring tears to his eyes.
