TCU OL Marcus Cannon has cancer

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is reporting some sad news: TCU offensive lineman Marcus Cannon has a treatable form of cancer and will begin chemotherapy immediately.

Schefter reports the 6-foot-6, 350-pound senior has non-Hodgkin lymphoma and will begin his treatments today. He will have three more treatments over the next three months. The only good news to come from all of this: Cannon faces a success rate for beating the cancer of better than 90 percent.

The cancer was discovered while he underwent physicals for the draft. Cannon had been diagnosed with a benign growth in his groin area four years ago. This is obviously sad and shocking news to hear about a man so young who should be in the prime of his health. Cannon was a three-year starter at tackle for the Horned Frogs and a two-time All-Mountain West conference selection. Todd McShay has him ranked as the 11th offensive lineman in the draft.

Please keep Marcus Cannon in your thoughts today. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field in no time.
