Navy and the Western Athletic Conference both announced deals with the Emerald Bowl on Thursday.

Navy has agreed to play in the Emerald Bowl in 2012 if it is eligible. The Naval Academy now has potential bowl destinations through 2013 -- the Texas Bowl this season, the Poinsettia Bowl in 2010, the EagleBank Bowl at RFK Stadium in 2011, the Emerald Bowl in 2012 and the Armed Services Bowl in 2013.

Army already had been invited to play in 2011, should it be eligible.

During 2010 and 2013, the WAC’s first, second or third-place team will play the Pac-10 No. 6 pick.

“This is a great arrangement for the WAC and its nine football teams,” said commissioner Karl Benson. “The Emerald Bowl has established itself as a premier bowl in a great city. I am sure our fans will love to travel to San Francisco. And to play a Pac-10 team makes it even a better deal for the WAC.”
