LB Jonathan Jones talks top five and a leader

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Linebacker Jonathan Jones had a big change in his recruitment when he found out he wouldn't be able to enroll early. Jones couldn't fit summer school into his schedule so had to put enrolling early off, which also impacted when he would make his commitment.

Since he was no longer enrolling early, he felt he had more time to go through the process and figure things out.

"I wanted to make a choice quicker just because I was going to enroll early, but I couldn't do it and Notre Dame and Stanford got involved," he said. "So, I said I don't want to miss out on an opportunity and I want to check out all the schools. So that's what I'm trying to do is check out all the schools and take my time."

Jones has a set top five of Duke, Stanford, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Michigan and says no other schools will be able to move up into that group. The prospect from Florida says one school is currently sticking out.

"Michigan is most definitely the leader. I was there for four days and they've done everything right," he said. "Right now it's honestly just seeing other schools and seeing what they have to offer. I also want to see what God's will is for my future."

He says that all five of his top schools will get official visits and that he will visit Notre Dame in September and Michigan in November. He hasn't set dates just yet, but he wants to wait to make his final decision after all the officials.

That choice might be in late November, or as Jones says, it could even come at signing day.
