Penn State grabs in-state defender

Defensive end Evan Schwan (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) committed to the Nittany Lions Saturday while on campus for an official visit, multiple sources report.

For the most part, Schwan flew under the recruiting radar until his senior year. He now holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Rutgers, UConn, Kent State and Temple.

He's an impressive combination of size and athleticism. At 6-foot-6, 230-pounds, Schwan posted combine-verified figures including a 4.83 40-yard dash, 4.41 20-yard shuttle and 28.1-inch vertical.

Penn State has gained eight commitments in the month of January.
