FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots continue to work out free-agent players at Gillette Stadium, bringing in a group of nine on Tuesday. The workouts are mostly geared towards keeping the club's emergency lists at each position fresh.
Of the nine workouts Tuesday, the most notable is tight end Weslye Saunders, formerly of the Colts.
Here is the rundown:
FB Maurice Hagens -- The former Miami Hurricane was with the Falcons this preseason after signing with them as an undrafted free agent. The 5-foot-11, 250-pound Hagens was waived by Atlanta on Aug. 29.
LB Derrell Johnson -- An undrafted rookie out of East Carolina, he was most recently with the Cardinals after signing with them in early August. The 6-2, 257-pound Johnson was waived on Aug. 25.
LB Josh Kaddu -- A third-year player out of Oregon who spent his first two seasons in Miami (5 games played) after being selected in the fifth round, the 6-3, 252-pounder was with the Eagles this preseason and released at the final cut down.
TE Allen Reisner -- The four-year veteran out of Iowa has had stints with Minnesota (2011-2012) and Jacksonville (2012-2013), appearing in 15 career games. Reisner (6-3, 255) has seven career receptions and was with the Vikings in training camp this year before being let go as final rosters were being put together.
FB Evan Rodriguez -- The 6-foot-2, 239-pound Temple product is in his third NFL season and has been with Chicago (2012) and Buffalo (2013). He was with the Bills this preseason and released at the final cut.
TE Weslye Saunders -- In his fourth NFL season after stints with Pittsburgh (2011) and Indianapolis (2012-2013), he is the most experienced and productive of the players worked out by the Patriots. The 6-foot-5, 261-pound Saunders has 10 career receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown in 33 career regular-season games played. The former South Carolina Gamecock was suspended eight games last season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was waived by the Colts on Aug. 30 after catching five passes this preseason.
LB Colton Underwood -- An undrafted free-agent out of Illinois State, he signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent. The 6-foot-3, 254-pound Underwood was waived at the final cutdown.
LB Kion Wilson -- The four-year veteran out of South Florida was most recently with the 49ers for a few weeks in August (signed after an injury to Blake Castonzo) after spending time with the Chargers (2010), Panthers (2011) and Steelers (2013). The 6-foot, 230-pound Wilson was released at the final cutdown.
DE Martez Wilson -- Now in his fourth NFL season out of Illinois, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Wilson has been with the Saints (2011-2013), Raiders (2013) and Cowboys (2013). He was with Dallas this preseason and released at the cut to 75 players.
