Rob Gronkowski matches Barack Obama with a joke of his own

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who is known for his playful side, tried to match president Barack Obama with a joke of his own after Thursday's ceremony honoring the team.

Asked a question about consumption of drinks on the trip, Gronkowski said, "There was no drinking. Maybe the president was wasted from his deflate joke. We're still waiting as an organization about that."

The answer provided a bit of an awkward moment.

Earlier, Obama had said that he usually likes to joke at ceremonies but was worried "11 out of 12 might fall flat" with the Patriots.

That led to Obama looking back at Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who smiled and gave a thumbs-down signal.

Obama also had a joke about Gronkowski, saying he was told to keep his shirt on.
