FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Already dealing with a string of injuries, the New England Patriots signed rookie free agent running back Tony Creecy, the team announced Monday.
The Patriots also signed rookie free agent tight end Logan Stokes and released tight end Mason Brodine and linebacker Chris White.
Running backs LeGarrette Blount, Travaris Cadet, Tyler Gaffney and Dion Lewis are already dealing with injuries, so the Patriots are adding more depth with Creecy. The 23-year-old running back recorded 1,265 yards on 324 carries and nine touchdowns in four seasons at North Carolina State. The 6-foot, 200-pounder also caught 75 passes for 428 yards and six touchdowns.
The Patriots signed Stokes, 22, on June 11 and released him on June 18. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder served mainly as a blocking tight end during his collegiate career at LSU.
White, 26, played the last two seasons for the Patriots. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 238-pounder played in 13 games for New England and finished with nine special teams tackles. He also played all three postseason games for the Patriots and recorded four special teams tackles.
