A quick observation of New England Patriots first-round pick Malcom Brown and how he has played through three weeks of training camp:
Maybe the best way to describe my first impressions of Brown is that it's a developing picture.
The 32nd overall pick in the draft played 33 snaps in the preseason opener and 30 in the second preseason game against the Saints. Those 63 snaps have revealed a player who is getting a feel for the techniques the Patriots play -- sometimes he has looked good, other times not so much.
That's about what one would expect, because the Patriots' techniques are different than what Brown was often asked to do at Texas.
The biggest thing to me is that the 6-foot-2, 320-pound Brown hasn't looked overpowered. Looking ahead, I view him as a contributing part of a multiplayer rotation on the interior of the team's defense.
