FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones entered Sunday in a three-way tie as the NFL's leader in sacks, his 8.5 putting him right there alongside Houston's J.J. Watt and Cincinnati's Carlos Dunlap.
With Houston on its bye and Cincinnati having played Thursday, Jones now finds himself alone in the top spot with 9.5 after bringing down Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins early in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-10 victory.
Jones had a witty response when asked if he's deserving of more attention.
"I leave all of that to the critics. Whether people talk about me or not, at the end of the day I'm playing for my team, for the Patriots logo on my chest, my teammates, the coaches, and I'm also trying to get my Madden rating up," he cracked.
Jones is quickly closing in on his career high of 11.5 sacks, which was set in the 2013 season.
