DENVER -- New England Patriots injuries have piled up over 2015, with tight end Rob Gronkowski and linebacker Dont’a Hightower both leaving Sunday night’s loss to the Broncos with knee ailments. The severity of both is yet to be determined.
The following is a list of significant injuries to players on the 53-man roster that led to multiple games missed, or those projected to have been on the roster:
Brian Tyms -- Wide receiver was competing for a No. 4 or No. 5 role, but landed on injured reserve (foot) on Aug. 25.
James Develin -- Fullback broke his right tibia in the third preseason game and was placed on IR on Sept. 1.
Darryl Roberts -- Seventh-round draft choice out of Marshall had shown promise at cornerback in the offseason and at training camp, specifically with his ball skills, but hurt his wrist in the preseason opener and was placed on IR on Sept. 1.
Brandon LaFell -- Top playtime receiver from 2014 missed the first five games of the regular season after opening the season on the PUP list with an unexpected foot injury from the offseason.
Bryan Stork -- Starting center from 2014 opened the year on the short-term injured reserve list (concussion), and didn’t play until the eighth game of the season.
Julian Edelman -- No. 1 receiver injured his foot Nov. 15 and is expected to miss a significant amount of time.
Nate Solder -- Starting left tackle tore his biceps Oct. 11 against the Cowboys and was placed on IR shortly thereafter.
Tarell Brown -- Nine-year veteran opened the year as the team’s No. 2 cornerback but was coming off foot surgery in 2014 and ultimately was felled by a foot injury and landed on IR Oct. 17.
Rufus Johnson -- Promising first-year defensive end came down with an aggressive stomach virus and was placed on the reserve/illness list on Oct. 28.
Ryan Wendell -- Center/guard who was elected captain missed the first five games due to an undisclosed illness, returned as a reserve in two games, before winding up on IR on Nov. 7 after hurting his knee.
Jamie Collins -- Starting linebacker popped up on the injury report Nov. 7 with an undisclosed illness and has missed the last four games.
Dion Lewis -- Dynamic change-of-pace running back who electrified with his sharp cuts tore his ACL and found his way to IR on Nov. 9.
Danny Amendola -- Receiver hurt his knee while taking on an expanded role in place of Edelman, and missed Sunday’s game against Denver (and potentially more).
Aaron Dobson -- No. 4-5 receiver hurt his ankle Nov. 23 against the Bills and was placed on IR four days later.
Michael Williams -- No. 2 tight end hurt his knee Nov. 23 against the Bills and missed his first game of the season Sunday against Denver.
Justin Coleman -- No. 3 cornerback, a rookie from Tennessee, hurt his hand Nov. 15 against the Giants and hasn’t played since.
