Belichick seems unaffected by Patriots getting demoted officiating crew

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The NFL removed referee Pete Morelli's crew off Sunday night's prime-time game after it was heavily criticized by the 49ers and Cardinals in Week 12, and the crew will now work the Patriots' home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

How does Bill Belichick feel about getting the demoted crew?

"It's not anything we have any control over. We've had Pete's crew twice this year already and really haven't had any problems with them -- once in preseason, once in the regular season," Belichick said Wednesday. "I thought in terms of the communication and all the things on the field, there wasn't an issue with them.

"Look, there are 17 crews, and we get them all. I don't think any of them, to me, are noticeably one way or the other. Each game has its own dynamics and close calls. Some go one way, some go another way. But overall, I think they do a pretty good job of balancing the crews out [in terms of assignments]. However they do it, I don't know, it's not really my thing. But those groups, they're professional and I think overall do a pretty good job. Not perfect, like all of us, but ..."
