Patriots still have No. 1 playoff seed in their sight

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- With Denver beating Cincinnati in overtime on Monday night, it sets up the following scenario for the New England Patriots to earn the AFC's No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs:

  • Win or tie at Miami on Sunday ...

  • ... or the Broncos lose or tie at home to the Chargers.

One thing we will be watching for is if the NFL flexes the Patriots' kickoff to late afternoon, to align it with the 4:25 p.m. Broncos-Chargers kickoff.

As previously noted, the Patriots are leaving for South Florida on Thursday, two days earlier than the norm.
