Patriots top charts in post-free agency ESPN power rankings

With the early flurry of free-agent signings over, ESPN has produced its latest power rankings and the New England Patriots top the charts. The team had been No. 2 in the prior rankings after the Super Bowl.

"The Patriots struggled without Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman last season. The fix? Acquiring Martellus Bennett, Chris Hogan and Nate Washington," writes ESPN's Stats & Information.

The Patriots' work isn't done, with needs to be addressed at power running back, defensive tackle, offensive tackle and cornerback.

The rest of the AFC East doesn't stack up as well in the power rankings, with the Jets at No. 15, the Bills at No. 21 and the Dolphins at No. 23.

One other thought: The Patriots' 2016 schedule includes games against three teams in the top five -- Arizona (3), Seattle (4) and Pittsburgh (5).
