FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- One of the signs that New England Patriots training camp is set to begin is players shutting down their social-media activity, with veteran defensive tackle Terrance Knighton providing us that reminder Wednesday morning:
Welp..... It's been real Twitter.... See u in a few weeks..... #spreadlove
— Terrance Knighton (@MisterRoast98) July 27, 2016
Knighton is active on Twitter, commenting on everything from sports to politics, engaging his 21,300 followers daily. In a fun segment on ESPN's NFL Live earlier this month, he earned top-five status from Adam Schefter as one of the best "follows" in the NFL.
Schefter's top five (in no particular order):
Knighton
Colts owner Jim Irsay
Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant
Patriots receiver Julian Edelman
Panthers coach Ron Rivera
Knighton's two-week shutdown of his Twitter account during training camp reinforces one of the messages Bill Belichick annually delivers to players: eliminate outside distractions.
