Saints WR Joe Morgan's suspension not season ending

METAIRIE, LA. -- New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Thursday that receiver Joe Morgan's suspension was team issued and is not season ending. Payton declined to elaborate further, though.

The specific details of Morgan’s suspension remain unknown. He was placed on the reserve-suspended list last week for an unspecified reason. Morgan also declined to discuss the details earlier this week at a fan event. But he told The Times-Picayune, “I’ll be back.”

According to the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, when players are suspended by the team for conduct detrimental to the club, they can be suspended without pay for a maximum of four weeks. It’s unclear if he can be suspended further with pay.

Even if Morgan returns, it's unclear if he'll be able to work his way back into the playing mix. Morgan has not played since Week 1 because he wasn't among the top four receivers on the Saints' depth chart.
