Saints/NFL roundup: Todd McShay's first mock draft

Good news for the 2014 New Orleans Saints. Bad news for the 2015 Saints. ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay has New Orleans picking 21st in his first 2015 mock draft.

That means McShay projects the Saints to win the NFC South. If they don’t, they’ll likely end up with a top-10 pick.

McShay pairs the Saints with an offensive tackle at No. 21, even though he acknowledges they have more glaring needs on defense. Click here to see McShay’s full mock and you can also take a glance at the top-10 talent in the draft in case the Saints have to settle for a higher pick.

Possible opponents: If the Saints make the playoffs, they will almost certainly host the NFC West runner-up in the first round of the playoffs – which will almost certainly be the loser of Sunday night’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

On the rise: The Saints are the biggest climbers in this week’s ESPN Rower Rankings, up four spots to No. 19. That arrow’s moved up and down quite a bit this year, though. The Saints need to prove they can keep it pointed in the same direction for multiple weeks when they host the 24th-ranked Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Made to be broken: ESPN.com’s Kevin Seifert took a look at how difficult it has become to compare passing statistics between modern and past quarterbacks. To illustrate his point, he opened with how many QBs (starting with the Saints’ Drew Brees) have surpassed Johnny Unitas’ TD streak that was once considered unbreakable.
