Saints sign veteran OT Thomas Welch

Add one more name to the list of players the New Orleans Saints signed following their three-day tryouts at rookie minicamp this past weekend -- veteran offensive tackle Thomas Welch.

Welch (6-foot-7, 310 pounds) has played in 27 career games with one start in his four-year career spent with the New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills. He began his career as a seventh-round pick out of Vanderbilt in 2010 with the Patriots. He appeared in all 16 games as a backup tackle for the Bills last year.

The Saints also officially announced the previously reported signings of veteran outside linebacker Cheta Ozougwu, undrafted rookie running back Derrick Strozier and undrafted rookie receiver Steve Hull.

To make room, they waived rookie guard Micajah Reynolds and rookie nose tackle Brandon McCray.
