The New York Giants are trying to lure their fan base back in following a troubling and often frustrating season. Season ticket holders received a letter this week from new head coach Pat Shurmur.
Shurmur was hired as the 18th head coach in franchise history last week. He takes over a 3-13 team that fired coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese before the season was over.
In the letter, Shurmur called it an “honor” to serve such an iconic franchise and noted that fans could trust the Giants are already hard at work preparing for the upcoming season.
Shurmur and the Giants have their hands full this offseason. Shurmur is in the process of assembling his initial coaching staff. He is still looking to fill offensive coordinator and quarterback coaching vacancies.
The Giants and their new coach will then turn their attention toward free agency and the draft. They have the No. 2 overall pick, their highest selection since taking Lawrence Taylor with the second overall pick in the 1981 draft.
