Jets sign former Giants OT Charles Brown

The New York Jets signed former New Orleans Saints draft bust Charles Brown, who landed a contract Friday after a three-day audition at minicamp.

Brown, a second-round pick of the Saints in 2010, played for the New York Giants last season. He didn't play much, coming off the bench to replace the injured Justin Pugh in a game last November. It didn't go well. Asked how Brown performed, Tom Coughlin said, "Not very well." A few days later, he was released.

Obviously, the Saints had high hopes for Brown, but he didn't become a full-time starter until his fourth season. He started 14 games at left tackle, but he gave up seven sacks (according to Pro Football Focus) and was benched late in the season.

The Jets had a roster opening after waiving tackle Sean Hooey.
