Stoudemire told Anthony that he wasn’t taking any veiled shots at him when discussing his time with the New York Knicks on Sunday.
“I've never mentioned his name once. We're close friends, family,” Stoudemire told Miami reporters. “Our kids were born a couple months apart.
Our wives are very close friends. He knows I wasn't talking about him."
Stoudemire raised some eyebrows on Sunday when he said that not all of the Knicks were fans of Jeremy Lin “being a new star” during his run in New York. He also said not all of his Knicks teammates were committed to the triangle offense last season.
Some interpreted Stoudemire’s comments to be directed at Anthony.
Anthony on Monday sent several tweets on Monday that seemed to be in response to Stoudemire’s comments. On Tuesday, Anthony confirmed that he and Stoudemire spoke about the situation and have no issues but declined to divulge any specifics.
“I don’t really want to waste any time on that. What’s understood don’t need to be spoken upon,” Anthony said after the Knicks’ loss to Portland. “... Me and Amar’e got an understanding. We spoke, and that’s that.”
