D-Will: Opener in doubt

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams' goal has been to play in the the team’s regular-season opener Oct. 30 in Cleveland, but acknowledged to reporters in Boston Wednesday that it’s not going to be easy.

“It’s going to be tough to get back for that first game just because I haven’t done much,” Williams said, according to Newsday. “But we’ve got four days after that last Miami game [Friday].”

Williams (right ankle sprain) reportedly got through Wednesday morning’s shootaround without any setbacks. He did some 5-on-5 halfcourt contact drills in Tuesday’s practice for the first time since suffering the injury.

He likely will not play in any preseason games.
