Kidd said on Thursday that Garnett will play tonight against Washington. But the Nets head coach did not want to look ahead to Saturday's game against Indiana at home when asked about his plan for Garnett.

Garnett said he hasn't talked to Kidd yet about playing against the Pacers as of Friday morning's Nets shootaround.

"I have not," Garnett said when asked if he's talked to Kidd about the plan. "[Playing in both] would be the assumption. Until he tells me differently, I will prepare and be ready for back-to-back games like always."

This weekend's games against Washington and Indiana are the Nets' first set of back-to-back games. They have 20 back-to-backs this season.

Kidd wants to keep veterans like Garnett and Paul Pierce healthy and fresh for the postseason. Back in August, Kidd said Garnett probably wouldn't play back-to-back games but added that it was up for discussion.

Garnett, though, resisted the idea of rest and said at the start of camp he would like to play as much as possible to help the Nets develop chemistry.

Garnett is averaging 6.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 22 minutes per game thus far this season.

Garnett said he understands why Kidd has tried to keep the veteran's minutes down. "That's pretty much what we talked about and I'm under the impression that that's what it is and I'm not going to make a stink or fuss about it," he said of his minutes so far. "Just going to give this team whatever I can."
