Starting Five: Terry wants title in Seattle

NEW YORK -- The NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks were at Barclays Center, which made Brooklyn Nets reserve guard Jason Terry a happy man.

You see, Terry is from Seattle, and has been a diehard Seahawks fan his whole life.

Before he checked into the game at the start of the second quarter, Terry went over and hugged cornerback Richard Sherman, who was sitting courtside.

“I told him I’m proud of him and I wish him the best,” Terry said.

Terry says he isn’t going to attend the Super Bowl at nearby MetLife Stadium, but his mother will be there.

“I am sending my mother. She’s been to both playoff games. And she feels like she’s the lucky charm, so I’m sending her,” Terry said. “I’ll be there in spirit.”

Terry predicts the final score will be Seahawks 28, Denver Broncos 24.

“The difference is our defense, getting key stops,” he said. “In the fourth quarter, we’re gonna hold them to zero points.”

Terry thinks the whole thing is pretty cool.

“Man for me to be up here and living in [New Jersey] and the Super Bowl is here and my team’s in it, is amazing for me,” he said. The whole city [of Seattle] has been going crazy. As you know, that’s a tight-knit community up there, and Pete Carroll, everything he’s done for the city has been tremendous.”

Someone really needs to get Terry a ticket.
