Nets, Gutierrez to agree on 10-day contract

The Brooklyn Nets signed point guard Jorge Gutierrez to a 10-day contract.

Gutierrez, who had been playing for the Canton Charge (BBC), was in training camp with the Nets this season. ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the Nets had worked out Gutierrez and Darius Johnson-Odom before deciding that Gutierrez would be a better fit for depth behind Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston.

The 6-3 Gutierrez averaged 13.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 32.7 minutes per game at Canton. He appeared in five preseason games for the Nets, averaging 1.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game prior to being waived on Oct. 26.
