Nets host Russian night at Barclays

The Brooklyn Nets hosted “An Evening of Russian Culture” on Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers.

This is the second time the Nets have hosted the event. The last time they did so, in January of 2011, Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov had a press conference to announce that the Nets were no longer pursuing Carmelo Anthony.

(For the record, Prokhorov is not at Barclays Center this time).

Prior to the game, a renowned Russian violinist, Alexander Markov, played the National Anthem. Problem was, none of the crowd knew when to stand because the public address announcing was also being done in Russian -- and there was no English follow-up, as there is for most NHL games played in Canada.

Russian music will be played throughout the game, and prizes will be given away.
