EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The learning curve continues for Ryan Nassib.
The rookie quarterback threw two interceptions during the hurry-up drive portion of practice on Saturday. The first pick was actually more a product of a great play by linebacker Mark Herzlich, who made a diving interception after a Nassib pass was deflected in the air by Kyle Bosworth.
The Giants continued with the two-minute drill and the practice ended with Nassib throwing a pick to cornerback Laron Scott under heavy pressure from defensive end Matt Broha and others. During the hurry-up, Nassib did connect on two passes to Brandon Collins for nice gains.
There are times when Nassib throws an impressive pass and shows nice ability to roll out and get out of trouble. There are also times when he throws a bad pass. Part of being a rookie. Of course, Nassib has the benefit of learning behind Eli Manning and David Carr and has plenty of time to grow.
Barden delivers: Ramses Barden had a couple of nice plays in practice. He made a nice leaping catch in the left corner of the end zone on a throw from Nassib in 11-on-11s. He also would later catch a pass from Manning.
Barden might be battling for a roster spot. On the unofficial depth chart, Barden and Keith Carlos are listed as third string behind Hakeem Nicks and Rueben Randle.
At the other wide receiver position, Victor Cruz is the starter with Louis Murphy and Jerrel Jernigan behind him.
The 411: With Corey Webster, Nicks and Justin Pugh out for practice, the Giants shuffled their depth chart a bit. Aaron Ross played with the first team and Jayron Hosley moved up to the second team at cornerback opposite Trumaine McBride. James Brewer, who has been seeing first-team snaps at right guard in place of the injured Chris Snee, received second-team right tackle snaps as well with Pugh out. Randle started for Nicks. Randle started off 11s with two nice catches over the middle.
Safety Ryan Mundy had a nice breakup on a pass by Curtis Painter in 7s. ... WR Kevin Hardy had a nice catch in 7s. ... Eli hit Brandon Myers for a nice gain across the middle in 11s. ... Prince Amukamara had a terrific breakup when he knocked down a pass that was batted up in the air while falling down, with Murphy trying to catch the ball in the corner of the end zone. ... Da'Rel Scott flashed his speed on a short pass from Carr.
